Apples to Apples: Comparing Prices Isn’t Everything

You have a lot of choices for party rentals in Knoxville, and a wide range of prices to choose from. However, if you chose a rental company based solely on their pricing, you may be in for a rather rude shock on the day of your party. Will they be on time? Professional? Insured? Will the bouncer be safe? Clean? Setup properly? What happens if they cancel on you at the last minute — or worse yet, simply don’t show up at all? You shouldn’t take a chance with your party!
What can you do?
1) Use a well known reputable company, like Moonwalks and Such. We are a family owned business that has been in operation locally for over FIVE years. We have a physical office here in Knoxville (1284 Rocky Hill Road). You can stop in and meet our staff and make a reservation in person from 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday (with the exception of lunch from 12:30-1:30pm). Now those are only our office hours, we deliver 7 days a week — on your schedule.
2) Make sure you have emergency contact information. When we talk the day before your rental, you will be given a 24/7 contact number to a real live person in case you have questions or concerns. One of us will answer your call, and help you. No leaving messages, no phone trees, no waiting to see if we call you back. We are there for you.
3) Get proof of insurance. While Moonwalks and Such carries full liability insurance on ALL of its rental units, other companies may not. Some local companies only carry insurance on select units (for example, they may have four slides, but only insure one). If there is a claim, and the insurance company does an inventory or audit, they won’t pay and you will end up in court against the bouncer company. Accidents are stressful enough, having to spend months slogging it out in court makes it worse. Some of the smaller rental companies carry no insurance at all. We will be happy to provide you with proof of insurance. Make sure anyone else who quotes you a price does the same thing. It’s for your safety and peace of mind.
4) Get a written reservation confirmation, with delivery and pickup times. Part of being professional is having a true office and staff, instead of working out of the back of somebody’s truck with a dayrunner and a notebook. Our reservations system is industry-grade and specific to our rentals. It keeps us from overbooking rentals, makes sure we don’t over-schedule delivery or pickup times, and keeps all your contact information and rentals for future reference (It’s so easy to call and say, I want the same thing I had last year. Then it’s MY job to talk you into the coolest new rental.). Our office staff will make a reservation for you, send you the completed agreement for signature and your records, and provide you with an invoice showing payment. We talk to all our clients the day before a rental goes out to make sure we are all on the same page. We will give you a delivery time and a pickup time, and we are diligent about sticking to our schedule.
5) Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Take into consideration the quality of the unit you are renting when looking at quotes. Are the units being compared the same size? Are they made of the same quality materials? Are they clean and sanitized? Will they deliver and pickup, or do you have to get and setup the unit? Are they properly insured? Will they give you a contract, or is it just a “verbal” agreement? Sure, you may be able to rent a bouncer for $99…. but if it isn’t the right size, or made of quality materials, or clean when you drive to pick it up (like you don’t have better things to do on party day)… is $99 really a good deal? What’s your peace of mind and the fun your guests have worth to you?
